N2 - This paper is fundamental studies concerning with micro combustor for a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) combined with a micro gas turbine (MGT) hybrid system of 20 kW class home cogeneration system. Proposed micro combustor has a baffle plate having multi air holes located annularly and an opposite arrangement single fuel nozzle in the center. The flow structure and the flame stability mechanism were investigated experimentally. The flow structures are measured by using a particle image velocimetry (PIV). The baffle plate is effective in incurring 3D flow recirculation, maintaining intensive turbulence, and enhancing the mixing for the both flow arrangements is useful to make the combustor compact. Potentials and directions for future research of the micro can combustor with a baffle plate are discussed.
