We propose the concept of a human intention monitoring system (HIMS) that can infer and understand human intentions from sensory data (e.g., environmental, system, behavioral, and biological information) input by human beings. The performance of a prototype is also discussed. HIMS will make possible the use of a high degree of human skill and creativity. It can be used in factories (e.g., in assembly lines) and field works (e.g., for telephone exchange maintenance) in tasks requiring human experience, knowledge, and skill.
