N2 - In the event of a disaster, lifelines such as electric power, water, and telecommunications are disrupted, and activities are restricted in various manners, one of which is the shutdown of air conditioning systems. In this study, assuming the occurrence of an earthquake of a considerable magnitude in a metropolitan area, we simulate an indoor thermal environment after the disaster for various scenarios. We make assumptions concerning the situation of the region, which may influence the use of air conditioning systems after the disaster and demonstrate the significance of effective personnel movement and natural ventilation for improving the indoor thermal environment.
