N2 - A series of compatibility tests of metal materials with NaOH-NaNO3 (81.5-18.5 mol%) and NaOH-NaNO2 (73-27 mol%) is described. The effects of impurities in salt and matrix elements in metals are considered. In addition to the compatibility tests, experimental studies on 30-kWh storage units are described, with attention given to a finned-tube storage unit. A numerical simulation that makes it possible to obtain an accurate performance prediction of a wide variety of storage units is presented.
