A novel growth process in which the samples are grown between two temperatures with increasing and decreasing temperature cycles was found to be successful in improving the flux pinning in a higher field region without deteriorating both Tc and the grain growth rate in the Nd-Ba-Cu-O system. In the present study, we employed the same novel melt-growth process for the growth of a Gd-Ba-Cu-O sample and found it effective in enhancing the Jc in the higher-field region.
