Performance Evaluation of Routing Protocols iFORP-3DD for Drone Ad Hoc Network

Recently research on FANET which is one of wireless ad hoc networks consisting of airborne terminals is actively conducted. In particular, DANET that use drones which are currently becoming remarkably popular as FANET terminals are being considered. However, existing routing protocols for wireless ad hoc networks are not likely to perform well in DANET. In order to construct a reliable DANET, we have been proposed iFORP-3DD, which introduces a function to control the movement of relay terminals into iFORP, a routing protocol considering terminal location information, and evaluated its communication performance. From the drone operator's point of view, however, a shorter movement control time is desirable because it interrupts the drone's original operation. In this paper, a method to make the stopping time of relay terminal shorten in iFORP-3DD is proposed. The proposed method is implemented on a network simulator and evaluated its performance compared to previous methods.
