N2 - We propose a novel BOTDR based on cross-correlation analysis of backscattered Brillouin signals that are sampled with two types of window functions in different lengths. The new BOTDR concurrently achieves high spatial resolution and measurements of Brillouin backscattered signal spectra having narrow-width, allowing accurate measurement of distributed Brillouin frequency shift with cm-order spatial resolution. Data processing methods based on a frequency sweep technique and Fast Fourier Transform analysis (FFT) are described. Experiments using FFT verify the performance in the spatial resolution of as short as 20 cm.
