N2 - In this paper, we introduce the indexing method of a topic map database. We assumed a tolog-type query language and the topic map data structure defined by TMDM (ISO/IEC 13250 part-2). We also proposed a hash indexing method applied to the strings stored in elements such as topic names, variants and occurrences, which are not directly referred to by a topic map element. We evaluated the validity of our method by applying it to the topic map database, TOME.
