An apparatus to record the growing process of laser-induced periodic surface structure (LIPSS) pulse-by-pulse has been constructed. Application of oblique incidence resulted in the formation of LIPSS whose period is longer than the laser wavelength and optical observation of fringes was ena-bled. Here we show the result of our observations using the apparatus and demonstrate the capability of this method.
