N2 - The characteristic of ubiquitous services, their technical issues and research directions for the future were discussed. In ubiquitous services, services are provided when a user is not expecting them, because they are triggered automatically by the system but not by the the user's intention. In ubiquitous services the amount of physical data is very large, and they should be processed in real time, so, scalability and continuity of processing are important. Many technical areas and key technologies which are essential to ubiquitous services should be improved such as hardware technologies for sensing, processing, wireless communication and energy.
