This study aims to identify useful indicators for planning hospital wards from surveys of the correlation strength between the distance of patient rooms and the staff station and the patient nursing necessities in an all private-room hospital. The survey was carried out in 4 wards for 1 year. The correlation strength between patient location to staff station and the index of nursing needs was the greatest when compared to medical needs and post-operative care needs. It was found that nurses put patients who have heavy care needs especially in the orthopedics ward and the gastroenterology ward nearer their stations.
