N2 - This paper reports on the security guard system for the buildings, which utilizes an autonomous mobile guard robot. We have developed a prototype of the guard system, and used it at a TV broadcasting station for testing and evaluation. Guard robot is a wheel type autonomous robot. The robot moves on a planned path while watching around to find anything unusual objects such as a human, fire, and water leakage. The robot is equiped with CCD cameras. While patrolling it sends the images to the monitoring station. The robot can come back and dock in a battery recharging station automatically by itself, when it finishes the patrol.
