The research discussed in this paper set out to create a comprehensive driving safety support system comprising two systems, an HMI that encourages safe driving during vehicle operation and a Web-based system that enables drivers to review their driving afterwards in order to increase their safety awareness. Previous research proposed an HMI that made the driver aware of the presence of intersections and encouraged the driver to make temporary stops at these intersections with time to spare, and verified its effectiveness and acceptability to drivers. The results indicated that an HMI of this type was effective in promoting safe driving and achieved a high level of acceptability to drivers. As the first stage in the creation of a Web-based system for driving safety education outside the vehicle, the present research conducted a questionnaire survey to investigate the functions and system design demanded by drivers. Multivariate analysis and data mining were used to analyze the data obtained in order to determine the outlines of a Web-based system that would be both effective and appealing to drivers.
