N2 - Many companies have been suffering from learning from failure even though they understand its importance and make effort to do it. Thus a successful case and empirical research could contribute to company which is eager to learn from failure well. Thus we, in this paper, introduced an engineering company in Japan, which has done well in learning from failure and conducted an empirical research with the company, focusing on rationality recognition of their learning from failure. We found that self-interest including personal skill improvement which got them promoted and/or reworded is more effective to let them recognize the rationality of their learning from failure, than organization contribution based on their altruism in the company. It was, however, suggested that company matter was prioritized to individual matter in this company when they discuss the two matters - individual growth and company contribution - at same time.
